Moyes appointed Real Sociedad coach

Former Manchester United boss David Moyes has been named the new manager of Spanish club Real Sociedad.

It is the 51-year-old’s first job since he was sacked by the Red Devils in April after a 10-month spell in charge.

Moyes replaces Jagoba Arrasate, who was dismissed by the Spanish side after a poor run of form that currently sees them lie 15th in La Liga.

He will be the fourth Briton to manage the side, following in the footsteps of Englishman Harry Lowe and Welsh duo John Toshack and Chris Coleman.

The Scot has signed a contract to June 2016 and will take charge for the first time at Deportivo on November 22.

Although they are 15th on the log, Sociedad have already beaten both Madrid giants Real and Atletico this season.

The appointment offers Moyes the chance to repair his battered image and reputation, which was established over 11 relatively successful seasons with Everton.

The Merseyside team finished in the top six in the Barclays Premier League four times under him.
