Mu’azu: 5 APC governors also guilty of defecting

Adamu Mu’azu, national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), does not think that governors who defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2013 can exonerate themselves from the challenges that the country is facing.

Muazu said this in reaction to the position of APC that 16 years of the ruling party in power has not met the expectations of Nigerians.

In most of its campaign, APC has claimed that change is desired at the centre because PDP has not managed the resources of the country properly since 1999 when it assumed the reins of government.

Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers, Ahmed Abdulfatah of Kwara, Rabiu Kwankwanso of Kano, Aliyu Wamakko of Sokoto and the impeached Murtala Nyako of Adamawa all left to form the then new PDP before defecting to APC.

But dismissing their allegations, Muazu accused the former PDP governors of pursuing their selfish ambitions.

“How can the gang of five governors who left the PDP extricate themselves from those accusations when they were all part of the decision making organs of the party?” he asked in a statement.

“They point one finger at the PDP while four of their fingers are pointing back at their APC.

“The Nigerian electorate know that leopards don’t change their skin overnight. The change Nigerians need is a change in their standard of living, transformation of the basic infrastructure to better roads, better bridges, and better education standard, and not change to a political party just to achieve their personal desires.”

He further alleged that APC intends using propaganda to win the forthcoming election but said Nigerians have confidence in the PDP and would not be swayed by the antics of the opposition.

“Our nearest rivals are not only spinning out of control but have succeeded in elevating  propaganda into an art form to try and win at all cost,” he said.

“Propaganda don’t win votes, they only complicate matters. Sooner than later, their propaganda and lies will fall flat on their faces. They will then turn around to say that PDP has massively rigged the election.

“Let the APC continue their folly as Nigerians are no fools. We all know their empty game plan, the result which will dawn on them after Nigerians cast their votes on February 14, 2015.
