Niran Adedokun, a public relations practitioner and lawyer, is set to mark his 50th birthday with a public lecture.
The lecture will be held virtually on September 18.
Speakers at the event include Muiz Banire, chairman of the Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON); Shina Peller, house of representatives member representing Iseyin constituency in Oyo; Hadiza Bala-Usman, ex-managing director, Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), and Liborous Oshoma, a lawyer.
Banire will lead the conversation at the public lecture, and will speak on the topic: ‘Reforming Nigeria: The People or the Structure’.

Simon Kolawole, founder and chief executive officer of Cable Newspaper Limited, will moderate the panel, while Yomi Owope, media entrepreneur, will host the event.
Adedokun, who is a weekly columnist with TheCable and The PUNCH, said a public lecture is his way of contributing to the discussion on securing Nigeria’s future in the comity of nations.
He said for various reasons, which are not insurmountable, Nigerians are currently unable to agree on the most effective ways for the country to get back on the track of sustainable development.

“I am full of hope that conversations led by people who have a deep understanding of Nigeria and her challenges will agitate our minds and prepare us to make the right choices for the good of the country,” he said.
He explained that the choice of an online event is to open it up to as many people as possible.
He also expressed the hope that Nigerian politicians will begin to think more about the country, rather than personal interests.
Adedokun will also present his third book, ‘The Law is an Ass: A Collection of Fictional Short Stories’, at the event.
