58 killed, 139 injured in Borno multiple blasts

Three suicide bomb attacks have been witnessed in Maiduguri, the Borno state capital, leaving 58 people killed and 139 others injured.

According to a Reuters witness and a military source, the first two explosions were from bombs, one in a market and another close to a market.

Less than an hour after the first set of bombs went off in the town, a third blast was recorded with no casualty figures yet, a witness told Reuters.

According to Aljazeera, the initial twin bomb attack targeted a busy market in the town has killed at least 10 people.

Clement Adoda, the state commissioner of police, explained how the attacks occurred.

“Today, Saturday, explosions through Improvised Explosive Devise (IED) occurred at three locations in Maiduguri,” he said.

“The first one was at first gate of Baga Road Market, at about 11: 44hrs, the second was at about12:30hrs at Monday Market, while the third was at Borno Express Park at about 12:52hrs.

“So far, reports from the three locations indicate that 58 people died while 139 persons were injured.”

He added that normalcy had since been restored to the affected areas.

Monday market in Maiduguri is the site of numerous bomb blasts thathave claimed many lives in the state in time past.

In November 2014, two female bombers detonated bombs at the popular market, killing “more than 100 people” in one of the deadliest attacks in the state.

Early January 2015, a 10-year-old suicide bomber detonated a bomb at the same market, claiming 20 lives while many others sustained varying degrees of injury.

    1. We do not know really who are the boko harams.But it is obvious that they have too many supporters on this cable.No one knows for real who is who . You are one with whomsoever you agrees with or suports

  2. There is a force behind the Boko Haram than we are seeing. It is politically motivated and can only be politically resolved. If you kill to have, you will surely be brought to book. God is still watching. Let us keep praying for our dear country.

  3. Nigerians should be more patriotic and recognise this war with Boko Haram as war with the devil.. Its a global catastrophe and the super powers put together has not done better than Nigeria. North Eastern Nigerians in particular who know the terrain and the language of the area should do more to identify the organizers of these horrible crimes.
