Musa: Manchester City are weak at the back

CSKA Moscow forward, Ahmed Musa, believes that his side can take advantage of Manchester City’s “very weak” defence when they clash in the UEFA Champions League (UCL) on Tuesday.

Going into this game, Musa has scored four goals in two games for club and country.

He bagged a brace in CSKA’s 6-0 hammering of Kuban Krasnodar on Saturday after scoring a double in Super Eagles of Nigeria’s 3-1 win against Sudan during the international break.

Manuel Pellegrini’s side did the double over CSKA last season but the Nigerian believes that the Barclays Premier League champions are vulnerable at the back.

“As you can see, they are very weak this year. We are going to use that advantage against them,” he told the press.

“In a couple of games, they haven’t been that good. They are very weak in the defence so we are going to do our best to work against that.

“I think we are going to have a great opportunity because of the quality of the players we have. I think Tuesday is going to be a very good game for us. We are going to do our best to win because this is the last opportunity that we have.”

After losing to Bayern Munich and Roma in their opening two fixtures, CSKA need a victory to get their qualification back on track.

Tuesday’s game will be played behind closed doors at Arena Khimki, as punishment for racism and crowd trouble from CSKA fans.

Musa believes that UEFA’s decision to ban fans from attending the game is unjust.

“We are going to miss the fans,” he said.

“It is very difficult for us to play without our fans. Yes, it is unfair.”

Yaya Toure was the target for racist chants in last season’s UCL group game in Moscow, which City won 2-1 before winning the return leg 4-2 at the Etihad.

CSKA played against Bayern Munich behind closed doors in September and lost 1-0.
