Super Eagles forward, Ahmed Musa, has said that Lionel Messi deserved to win the World Cup’s Golden Ball ahead of James Rodriguez of Colombia.
Several distinguished personalities in the game, including Diego Maradona and Sepp Blatter, questioned the choice of the Barcelona forward for the award, while some felt that Colombia international and new Real Madrid signing, James Rodriguez, ought to have been named the best player of the competition.
But Musa felt otherwise.
”Yes, he (James Rodriguez) is definitely a classy player, but his team did not qualify for the semi-finals. The final was played between Germany and Argentina, and my opinion is clear, Messi is the best,” the CSKA Moscow forward told sport-express.ru.

”All awards and prizes he earned by his labour and great football. In principle, the prize was awarded to Messi on merit.”
Musa, who was one of the shining lights for Nigeria in Brazil with his performance and goals, revealed that he was rooting for Argentina in the final.
”They came out of our group; I saw them play and was rooting for them in the final,” he said.
