Caleb Mutfwang, governor of Plateau, has dissolved the local government transition implementation committee in the state.
Gyang Bere, director of press and publicity to Mutfwang, announced this in a statement on Saturday.
Mutfwang mandated the directors of personnel management in the 17 LGAs to assume responsibility for the administration of the council areas until the election in October.
The governor commended the 17 caretakers for the “exemplary leadership and dedication to advancing developmental projects that have directly impacted on their communities” during their tenure.

Mutfwang urged the former LG caretaker chairmen to continue to promote peace and unity within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and in the state.
In July, the supreme court granted financial autonomy to LGAs.
The supreme court held that the federal government should pay allocations directly to local government councils from the federation account.

The apex court ruled that state governments have continued to abuse their powers by retaining and using the funds meant for LGAs.
The court also ordered the federal government to withhold allocations of LGs governed by unelected officials appointed by the governor.
