Caleb Mutfwang, governor of Plateau, says security agencies must identify the sponsors of attacks on communities in the state.

On the eve of Christmas, over 115 persons were confirmed dead after attacks by gunmen on communities in Bokkos and Barkin-Ladi LGAs of the state.

In a statement on Tuesday,  the governor said 17 communities were affected, noting that the attacks by the “bandits and criminals were well-coordinated with heavy weapons”.

Mutfwang assured residents of the state of adequate safety from the security agencies, adding that [tps_footer][/tps_footer]he would meet with President Bola Tinubu to give him an accurate report of the incident.

“Most of the communities attacked in Barkin Ladi share borders with Bokkos LGA. We have not less than 17 communities that were completely touched and brought down by these bandits and criminals. It has been a very terrifying Christmas for us on the Plateau,” he said.

“Security agencies must do their work to be able to identify who are the sponsors of these attacks. We will push them to be able to unravel all those responsible for these attacks.

“Until we cut off the supply in terms of sponsorship, we may never be able to see the end of this.

“I will meet with the president today and give him accurate reports. The Army Headquarters has responded. The IG has also responded and more reinforcements are being sent.

“I urge everyone to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activities for prompt security response.

“We must stay united to defend our communities. Plateau is the home of Peace and Tourism and by God’s grace, it will remain so.”
