President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Afam Osigwe, a senior advocate of Nigeria (SAN), on his election as president of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA).
Osigwe will become the 32nd president of the NBA.
The former general secretary of the association polled 20,435 votes to defeat Tobenna Erojikwe, chairman of the NBA Institute of Continuing Legal Education Board, who garnered 10,998 votes.
Chukwuka Ikwuazom, former NBA Lagos branch chairman, scored 9,018 votes to place third.

Osigwe will succeed Yakubu Maikyau who has been NBA president since 2022.
In a statement issued on Monday by Ajuri Ngelale, special adviser to the president on media and publicity, Tinubu acknowledged the seamless execution of the electoral process.
He also extended his best wishes to other newly elected leaders of the NBA and the entire membership.

Ngelale said the president acknowledged the commendable service of Maikyau, highlighting his remarkable achievements in steering the organisation forward.
“The President assured the new leadership of the NBA of his administration’s support in addressing challenges affecting the association and the legal profession in general,” the statement reads.
