‘My fundamental rights under threat’ — Adeleke’s spokesperson sues DSS, Oyetola’s son

Olawale Rasheed, spokesperson to Ademola Adeleke, governor of Osun, has filed a case against the Department of State Services (DSS) over an alleged threat to his fundamental human rights.

The DSS; director-general of the DSS; the Osun state director of the DSS and Femi Oyetola, son of Adegboyega Oyetola, former Osun governor, are listed as the respondents in the suit numbered FHC/OS/CS/89/2024.

Rasheed is asking the court to “restrain the security operatives, either personally or through any of their agents or representatives, from inviting him, arresting him or threatening his rights to liberty, freedom of movement, freedom of expression and freedom of association in any manner on the malicious instigation of Oyetola”.

He deposed that he is not a “threat to the internal peace and security of Nigeria or any part thereof, to warrant security agents to invite him”.

The media aide to the governor is alleging that the All Progressives Congress (APC) is using Oyetola’s son to hatch malicious plans against him.

said the APC is in active collaboration with security agents to trample upon his fundamental rights.

Rasheed alleged that the APC is planning to arrest and detain him unlawfully and undermine his fundamental human rights.

He submitted in the court documents that by section 46 of the 1999 Constitution as amended, he could not wait until his rights were trampled upon before approaching the court.

He said members of the opposition APC have already bombarded the media with the news of his invitation/arrest by the DSS.

“This is a pointed indication that the invitation is tainted with malice and witch hunt of the opposition APC with the sole goal of settling political scores with prominent aides and members of Governor Adeleke’s Team,” Rasheed said.

He asked the court to stop the respondents from trampling upon his rights or getting at him unjustifiably.
