Nigerian identifies grandson in new ISIS video

Henry Dare, a Nigerian man living in London, says his grandson is in the latest Islamic State (ISIS) video, where five hostages, accused of being UK spies, were killed.

Dare also said his daughter joined ISIS a few years ago after converting to Islam and leaving for Syria.

According to UK Guardian, Dare, who is also known as Sunday, said that he recognised the child from the video as Isa, one of the sons of his daughter Khadijah, who has also been used as a figurehead by Isis.

“I can’t disown him. He’s my grandson. I know him very well,” he said, speaking to Channel 4 News from his home in south-east London.

“He doesn’t know anything. He’s a small boy. They are just using him as a shield… he doesn’t like it over there”.

Dare said he spoke to his daughter few weeks ago, after ignoring her call for a long time for bringing disgrace to the family.

“I keep on ignoring her calls because she has brought shame to our family and to herself”.

Dare moved with his wife, Victoria Dare and family, from Nigeria to Britain in 1987, and they have been in the country for majority of the years, living a devout Christian life.

In an interview with the BBC in 2015, Victoria had said her daughter, who was originally christened Grace (now Khadijah), was previously zealous in practising her Christian faith.

“She loves church. She was the one who was dragging me: ‘Mum I found a good church again,’” Victoria had said.

She studied media studies, film studies, psychology and sociology in a London College, and enjoyed watching football on television until her behaviour began to change – the then teenager one day announced she had converted to Islam and changed her name.

“Alhamdulillah [praise to God], I couldn’t find anyone in the UK who was willing to sacrifice their life in this world for the life in the hereafter. I prayed and Allah ruled that I came here to marry Abu Bakr,” she said from Syria, after her marriage to a Swedish fighter.

In the ISIS video released on Monday, Isa, was seen saying “we are going to go kill the kafir [non-believers] over there” at the end of the 11-minute-video.

The video was a warning to British Prime minister, David Cameron, who recently joined the coalition against ISIS.
