Victor Osimhen, Super Eagles striker, says his love for the badge of SSC Napoli “is unwavering” following a TikTok video controversy involving him and the Italian champions.

In the past week, Osimhen’s relationship with the Serie A champions has gone sour after a video was posted on the club’s TikTok account in which the player was presented in a way that suggested mockery.

In reaction, the player deleted posts and photos related to the club on his Instagram page.

His agent also threatened a lawsuit against the club, saying the clip “cause very serious damage to the player”.

The video attracted widespread condemnation, including accusations of racism and injustice from football lovers, particularly Nigerians.

The federal government said it was employing diplomatic avenues with Italy over the controversy between Osimhen and Napoli.

However, speaking on the incident for the first time in an Instagram story on Sunday, Osimhen said the “accusations against people of Naples are untrue”, adding they have shown him “so much love and kindness”.

The lanky striker then thanked Nigerians “for lending their voices to support and reach out to me”.

“Coming to the City of Naples in 2020 was a wonderful decision for me. The People of Napoli have shown me so much love and kindness, and I will not allow anyone to come between us,” the post reads.

“The passion of the people of Naples fuels my fire to always play with my heart and soul, and the love for the badge is unwavering as I wear it with pride.

“The accusations against the people of Naples are untrue. I have a lot of friends that are Napolitans and have become part of my family and everyday life.
