Tinubu launches emblem for 2025 Armed Forces Remembrance Day

President Bola Tinubu has appreciated  armed forces for protecting the country against external threats.

Tinubu made the remark on Tuesday during the launching of the 2025 Armed Forces Remembrance Day emblem appeal fund at the State House in Abuja.

The president said his administration is committed to the welfare of troops, adding that officers who lost their lives in the line duty will be honoured.

Tinubu added that his government will continue to allocate resources to address the security challenges in the country.

George Akume, secretary of the government of the federation, announced the donation of N500 million to the appeal fund on behalf of the federal government.

Senate President Godswill Akpabio donated N200 million on behalf of the national assembly.

Also, Christopher Musa, chief of defense staff, announced the donation of N50 million on behalf of service chiefs and Kayode Egbetokun, inspector-general of police.

At the event, A.M Jubril, a retired major general and chair of Nigerian Legion, decorated Tinubu, Vice-President Kashim Shettima, Akpabio, and Tajudeeen Abbas, speaker of the house of representatives, with the emblem.

The Armed Forces Remembrance Day is celebrated on January 15.
