Bala Na’Allah, senator representing Kebbi south, has asked Nigerians to talk to their representatives in the national assembly to pass the electoral act amendment bill.
Speaking with journalists after a meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari at the Aso Rock villa on Sunday, Na’Allah said the amendment will give the country a free and fair electoral process.
The senator said every Nigerian should be interested in a law that will ensure the conduct of credible elections.
“We have finished our public hearing; we have taken input. There are certain things that no matter how you try to be accommodative enough, they are practically impossible,” he said.

“Those ones that guarantee a free and fair electoral process have been taken into account and I’m very sure we will give Nigerians an electoral act that they will be very proud of.
“Well, of course, that means that every Nigerian has a responsibility to talk to his representatives in the senate and the house, to accept the fact that he must act patriotically.
“I am not sure there is any Nigerian, responsible Nigerian, who is not interested in an electoral law that gives us the comfort of conducting a free, fair and credible election.

“These three concepts have often been misused by people who don’t know; they are distinct and distinguishable and they are mutually repellent.
“It is one thing for an election to be free; it is another thing for it to be fair; it is another thing for it to be credible.”
Na’Allah, who also spoke on the current challenges, said it is a manifestation of collective injustice done to the country by citizens.
“These are issues that the previous injustice that we have done to ourselves, collectively and individually, are manifesting,” he said.

“It is only unfortunate that they are manifesting now when this government is in place and that is the reason why the government, having not been directly responsible for this situation, should be assisted with whatever assistance from any responsible citizen of this country to ensure that we put this behind us.”

I wonder why some political leaders will not insist on things and laws affecting the masses , but prefer laws that don’t address the masses. The value chain of workers /pensioners salaries, the small businesses, health, Mass education (the bed rock of development) local government autonomy ( the only best restructuring) where allocation goes straight to the masses from the center to touch the their lives directly devoid of complete manipulation of some vampires, vultures and devilish people who call themselves leaders / representatives of the people who bask in the euforia of their folly & stupidity. We are not here forever, every soul multiple die & take nothing out of here.
