NACC to honour Afe Babalola, Arthur Eze for contributions to business community

The Nigerian-American Chamber of Commerce (NACC) has announced plans to honour Afe Babalola, the founder of Afe Babalola University, and Arthur Eze, the chief executive officer (CEO) of Atlas Oranto Petroleum, for their contributions to the business community.

NACC will honour Babalola and Eze during the chamber’s 65th anniversary, themed “The Power of Co-Operation: 65 Years of Optimizing Nigerian-American Economic Relations,”.

The event is scheduled for April 12 at the Lagos Continental Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos state.

On March 6, NACC announced Vice-President Kashim Shettima as the special guest of honour at the event.

The chamber said Babajide Sanwo-Olu, governor of Lagos, will serve as the chief host of the occasion.

NACC added that the inauguration of Sheriff Balogun as the 20th president of the chamber would be the highlight of the event.

In a statement on Wednesday, Victor Ojelabi, chairman of the publicity subcommittee, NACC 65th anniversary celebration committee, said distinguished individuals and brands will also be recognised for their contributions to the Nigerian-American business community.

“Among the awardees are His Excellency Americo D’Oliveira Dos Ramos, Prime Minister of the Democratic Republic of São Tomé and Príncipe, Aare Afe Babalola, Chief Michael Ade-Ojo, Prince Arthur Eze, and Chief Pius Akinyelure,” Ojelabi said.

“The Chamber will also honour, posthumously, the late Ambassador Walter Carrington, former United States Ambassador to Nigeria; the late Mr. Richard Kramer, founder and CEO of African Capital Alliance Limited; and the late Mr. Sylvester Turner, the 62nd Mayor of Houston, Texas.”

Ojelabi added that outstanding Nigerian and American companies, alongside former presidents of the chamber, whose work has advanced economic growth and bilateral trade relations, will also be recognised.

He said corporate supporters of the gala include Mainstream Energy Solutions, Zenith Carex, FastCredit, Coca-Cola, Flour Mills Nigeria, Stanbic IBTC, PWC, Turkish Airline, Lagos Continental Hotel, EightMedical, FortuneGlobal and Zenith Bank.

“Media partners include Channels TV, BusinessDay, Studio24, TheCable, Naija Times, Lagos Post, and Freelanews,” he added.

According to the statement, the 20th presidential inauguration gala will serve as both a celebration of legacy and a launch pad for a new era of visionary leadership and economic collaboration.

As part of the celebration, the chamber will unveil its proposed multi-storey headquarters building and formally induct 52 new members into its chamber.
