The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) launched a series of precision air strikes against Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists in Borno state.

Intelligence sources told Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency publication, that on March 22, NAF fighter jets targeted ISWAP positions in Chilaria, within the Timbuktu Triangle, a known insurgent hideout south of Borno.

The strikes reportedly took out many terrorists and destroyed four Hilux trucks used for their activities.

According to Makama, on March 21, NAF jets carried out another air interdiction in Abbaganaram, destroying two ISWAP vehicles and a weapons storage facility.

The publication reported that the latest air operations are part of ongoing efforts to dismantle terrorist networks and create space for ground forces to consolidate gains in the Desert Sanity 4 counter-insurgency campaign.

It added that Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) missions continue to drive precision targeting, ensuring terrorist assets are neutralised.

“The Air Component remains focused on sustaining pressure on ISWAP, providing close air support, and degrading insurgent capabilities until the terror group is completely dismantled,” the report stated.
