The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) component of Operation Hadarin Daji (OPHD) has reportedly killed many fighters loyal to Alhaji Nashama, a notorious terrorist in the region.

According to Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency publication, the terrorists were eliminated by air strikes targeted at Nashama’s enclave in Birnin Magaji LGA of Zamfara state.

A source who spoke with the publication said officers of the OPHD acted on credible intelligence that the terrorists were scheming to attack locals and rustle cattle at Tsamre. 

In a related development, air strikes were also conducted by an air component of Operation Hadin Kai on July 25 at a terrorists’ hideout located about 1.5 km east of Arra in Bama LGA of Borno state.

Arra was once a well-known terrorist hideout near Sambisa forest. 

Sources said the air force rained strikes on the hideout after weeks of careful observation of the location. 

On July 20, TheCable reported that troops of Operation Hadarim Daji rescued 22 kidnap victims during a raid on bandits’ hideouts in Zamfara.

The NAF had also killed scores of Islamic State in West Africa Province (ISWAP) fighters around the Lake Chad region. 

On July 15, through a series of air strikes, NAF destroyed hideouts of the terrorist group and dropped bombs in Arina Chiki, a known terrorist shelter in southern Tumbuns of Borno.
