The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) says it has commenced “disciplinary procedures” against its personnel involved in fisticuffs with police officers in Delta state.
In a video that went viral on social media, some police officers and air force personnel were seen exchanging blows, wrestling, and brawling with the butts of their guns.
During the altercation, passersby jeered, cheered, and filmed the incident.
Reacting to the video, Edafe Bright, the police spokesperson in Delta state, said the incident occurred as operatives of the command transported a man found with substances suspected to be codeine, Indian hemp, and Canadian loud.

He added that the air force personnel, who allegedly knew the suspect, intercepted the police officers and demanded his release.
However, in a statement on Thursday, Olusola Akinboyewa, the NAF spokesperson, said the commander of the air force unit has engaged with police authorities in Delta to resolve the matter.
Akinboyewa said the injured police officers have received medical treatment.
