Sporting Lagos FC stunned Remo Stars 2-1 in their second game at the ongoing Naija Super 8 tournament.
The newly promoted Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) side came from a goal down to claim the vital win at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Lagos, on Tuesday.
The encounter, tagged “South-West derby”, was an action-packed and fast-paced match made even more exciting by the vibrant fans.
Remo Stars drew the first blood in the 17th minute through Frank Muawena but failed to extend the lead despite their dominance.

They were made to rue their profligacy just 10 minutes later. Saturday Okon received a brilliant pass behind Stars defence, rounded the goalkeeper and slotted the ball into an empty net.
Sporting then fashioned the winner late in the game. A clumsy challenge by Victor Collins in the box gifted Sporting Lagos a penalty in the 88th minute. Chiemeka Nwokeji took the spot kick, which was initially saved before he converted the rebound.
In the other group game, Katsina United produced resolute performances to defeat Enyimba 2-1.
