The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) has partnered with the Institute of Strategic and Development Communication (ISDEVCOM) of the Nasarawa State University on ways to address the challenge of human trafficking.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the institute said Binta Bello, the director general (DG) of NAPTIP, will deliver a keynote address on human trafficking at the international conference on March 27 in Keffi.
The development came on the heels of a partnership meeting that was held at the NAPTIP’s headquarters in Abuja between delegates from the institute and officials of the agency.
According to the statement, the meeting focused on establishing a collaborative partnership for the successful hosting of the sixth edition of ISDEVCOM’s international conference, which is themed ‘Japa: Communicating migration and Africa’s development’.

Speaking at the meeting, NAPTIP’s DG, represented by Hassan Tahir, acknowledged the importance of collaboration in combating human trafficking.
“NAPTIP has made substantial strides in addressing human trafficking in Nigeria,” the statement reads.
“However, we recognise that partnerships are essential for expanding our reach and impact.

“This conference presents an invaluable opportunity for us to share our initiatives and educate the public about the realities of trafficking.”
Azubuike Erinugha, the leader of the institute’s delegation, praised NAPTIP for its role in the fight against human trafficking and illegal migration.
Erinugha said the agency’s support of the ISDEVCOM conference would go a long way in building greater synergy with the university community to expand the campaign against human trafficking and illegal migration.
“We are here today to explore how we can work together to raise awareness about migration issues that affect our communities,” he said.
