Nasarawa governor warns against reprisal over killing of Miyetti Allah leaders

Abdullahi Sule, governor of Nasarawa, has cautioned against reprisal attacks over the killing of two leaders of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) in the state.

Mohammed Hussaini, the state chairman of MACBAN; and Mohammed Umar, chairman of the association in Toto LGA, were killed by suspected bandits on Friday at Garaku market, Kokona LGA of the state.

In a statement by Ibrahim Addra, his chief press secretary, the governor expressed sadness over the incident and cautioned against reprisal attack “capable of worsening the situation”.

He promised to work with security agencies to arrest and prosecute criminal elements disturbing the peace of the state.

He also asked those bent on breaching the peace enjoyed in the state to turn a new leaf for development to thrive.

The governor urged the families of the deceased to remain faithful and take solace in God.

He assured that his administration would continue to work hard at ensuring adequate security of lives and property in the state.

The state police command had also urged members of the public to volunteer useful information that would lead to the arrest of the culprits.
