Nasarawa United fans at the Lafia City stadium
The board of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) has fined Nasarawa United N6 million after a fan attacked Vincent Temitope, Plateau United striker, at the Lafia City stadium.
On Sunday, Plateau United claimed Temitope was struck in the neck by a fan who “held a knife” after the club’s 3-2 away loss to Nasarawa United.
Yaksat Maklek, the club’s director of media operations, said the incident happened when some fans approached Temitope for photos after the game.
He added that the player was rushed to Federal University Teaching Hospital in Lafia, where he was treated and in “stable condition.”

In a tweet on Monday, NPFL said Nasarawa “failed to provide adequate and effective security resulting in unauthorised person gaining access to restricted areas”.
The league body said the club’s poor security led to the fan attacking Temitope with “intention to cause grievous body harm”.
NPFL then ordered the team to pay a N2 million fine for failing to provide adequate security and another N3 million for its “persistent breach of NPFL Framework & Rules”.
