Senate President Bukola Saraki says he has given a directive for the breakdown of the national assembly budget to be published.
He said this in a live broadcast on his social media platforms on Thursday.
“This week we have directed that the breakdown of the national assembly budget be posted on our website,” he said.
“It will not be business as usual.”

He said his greatest challenge in the past one year had been keeping the senate together.
According to him, the reason for this is the “close divide” in the upper legislative chamber.
“I think the greatest challenge has been keeping the senate together. This is a senate that has a close divide,” he said.

However, he added that his colleagues had given him much support because of their commitment to Nigeria.
“We have moved on from what happened a year ago, and are focused on moving forward,” he said.
The senate president also spoke on the security situation in the Niger Delta, suggesting that the government must choose dialogue over force.
“On the Niger Delta, government must dialogue; we do not believe force is the answer. We are confident that government would find a solution to the problem,” he said.

“Under my leadership Nigerians come first. I will not be a senate president where issues that are burning we will not find solutions to it.”
The eighth senate marked its first anniversary on Thursday.
