Nigeria’s Nathaniel Ezekiel has set a new national record in the men’s 400m hurdles at the Big 12 track and field competition in Lubbock, Texas.
Henry Amike’s 48.50 seconds record set in 1987 was shattered by the 18-year-old on Sunday.
Ezekiel set the new national record with his 48.42 seconds finish in the championship.

Isaiah Levington finished second in 48.82 seconds while Malik Metivier finished third in 49.53s.

Ezekiel became the 4th Nigerian athlete in history to run a sub 49s in the 400m hurdles.
In the women’s 100 meter race, Rosemary Chukwuma came 3rd in 10.88 seconds while Imaobong Nse Uko came 5th in the women’s 400 meter race in 51.24 seconds.
