Uyi Akpata, president of Nigeria Cricket Federation (NCF), says the fourth edition of the U-17 PwC-NCF championship will begin on April 13. 

Speaking on Wednesday, Akpata said over 160 players from the six geopolitical zones of Nigeria will participate at the annual event.

The event is scheduled for April 13 to 16 at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium Cricket Oval, Abuja.

Akpata, who spoke at the unveiling of the fourth edition of the championship in Abuja, said the partnership between PwC and NCF have brought tremendous development to the Nigerian cricket community.

“It is great for us having an organisation like PwC partnering with us for over four years. We have seen lots of players who have been impressive at the event feature for the country in the short existence of the championship,” Akpata, who was represented at the event by Taiwo Oriss, the NCF secretary, said.

“The competition also affords us the opportunity of getting kids off the street and giving them hope through cricket.”

Tolu Adeleke, a partner at PwC, said the organisation was pleased with the initiative so far and reiterated further support for the NCF.

“We are excited that the values of the International Cricket Council (ICC) aligns with that of PwC. They are the values of integrity, working together and care and the kids have exhibited all these over the years,” Adeleke said.

“We are proud with the crop of talents groomed so far and their achievements and as long as we see this positive impact, we will continue to support this laudable initiative.”
