The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) says Nigeria recorded N1.87 trillion trade deficit in the second quarter (Q2) of 2021.
The NBS stated this in a report titled: “Foreign trade in goods statistics (Q2 2021),” released on Monday.
According to the report, Nigeria’s total merchandise trade increased by 23.28 percent from N9.76 trillion recorded in the first quarter (Q1) of 2021 to N12.03 trillion in Q2 2021.
The bureau explained that the rise was due to the sharp increase in export value during the quarter in view.
