Bristow’s use of Sikorsky helicopter suspended

The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has suspended Bristow’s operation of the Sikorsky helicopter type.

Muhtar Usman, director-general of NCAA, disclosed this on Thursday during an interactive session with reporters.

Usman said the suspension was to enable the agency carry out a full-scale audit on Bristow’s operations, with particular emphasis on its Sikorsky S-76C type.

The suspension comes a day after a Bristow helicopter with 11 persons on board crashed into the ocean.

Luckily no one died in the incident, which occurred five months after a similar accident claimed six of the 12 people on board.
