Nigeria registered 138 new COVID-19 cases on Saturday, raising the total number of cases in the country since the pandemic began to 206,064.
The latest positive samples were recorded in six states and the federal capital territory (FCT), according to data from the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) released October 2, 2021.
The FCT topped the COVID-19 infection chart with 51 new cases, followed by Anambra and Lagos with 28 and 24 positive samples, respectively.
Other states with new infections include Benue (18), Plateau (9), Kaduna (7), Jigawa (1).

There were no additional fatalities on Saturday. The coronavirus death toll in the country still stands at 2,723.
Also, 95 people were discharged on Saturday after recovering from the infection.
With the new figure, a total of 193,893 patients have so far recovered from COVID-19 in Nigeria.
