The National Commission for Persons with Disabilities (NCPWD) and the Joint National Association of Persons with Disabilities (JONAPWD) have reaffirmed their dedication to promoting the rights and well-being of persons with disabilities (PWDs) in Nigeria.
During a strategic meeting in Abuja, Ayuba Gufwan, the executive secretary of NCPWD, emphasised the critical need for strong leadership and collaboration in advocating for disability rights.
He asked the federal government, stakeholders, and organisations of persons with disabilities (OPDs) to intensify efforts in fostering inclusivity.
Gufwan spoke about the urgency of obtaining accurate data on PWDs and implored JONAPWD and OPDs to support data collection initiatives that would facilitate targeted interventions.
