The National Commission for Persons With Disabilities (NCPWD) is partnering the federal ministry of information and national orientation on an advocacy campaign for PWDs.
The committee for the awareness and sensitisation campaign was inaugurated on July 29, 2024, in the office of James Lalu, executive secretary of the commission.
Addressing members of the Disability Rights Advocacy, Lalu who was represented by Ikem Uchegbulam, director of compliance and enforcement unit at NCPWD, thanked Mohammed Idris, minister of information, for the nomination of staff into the team.
“Good leaders make efforts while others neglect their responsibilities and blame it on society,” Lalu said.

He added that most Nigerians are yet to realise that disability rights should be embraced by everyone.
Sulaiman, director of protocol in the office of the minister of information, promised full support for the advocacy strategy.
“On behalf of the Honorable Minister, I want to assure you all that we will come up with a strategic implementation and monitoring template that will facilitate accessibility in all spheres,” he said.

The meeting also had Fatima Doki, head of strategic innovation at NCPWD, and Farooq Gagarawa, member of the new media unit, in attendance.
