The National Commission for Persons with Disabilities (NCPWD) has expressed its readiness to empower one hundred people with disabilities (PWDs) with point of sale (POS) machines.
James Lalu, executive secretary of the commission, said this in Abuja during a live programme on Human Rights Radio (brekete family programme).
He was represented by Fatima Abubakar Doki, from the planning, research and statistics department of the commission.
NCPWD said it will organise a training programme for PWDs on how to operate the machines.

“The commission intends not only to train persons with disabilities, but also, to empower them with the POS machines and financial assistance to enable them start their businesses,” she said.
The commission also said it will award scholarships to one hundred and six students with disabilities in higher institutions across Nigeria.
While appreciating the commission, Ahmed Isa, the chief executive officer (CEO) of the radio station, offered to provide ‘educational videos’ to create awareness for PWDs on security and financial matters.
