Ndidi extends Leicester contract

Nigeria’s midfield lynchpin and Leicester City’s energetic enforcer, Wilfred Ndidi, has signed a new six years contract with the Premier League side.

The Super Eagles player, who’s previous contract was due to end 2022 made this known on his Twitter account that he has signed on for two more years, extending till 2024.

“Happy to extend my contract with @lcfc special thanks to my team mates, coaches and the fans for their constant support #2024 #foxes,” he cheered.

Speaking with the club’s media after signing, Ndidi who has won the Club’s Young Player of the Year for the past two seasons said he was thrilled to extend his contract and looks forward to “fantastic moments.”

“I’m very happy to sign this contract with Leicester City. I have enjoyed every moment of my time with the Football Club, so I’m thrilled to be here for six more years. Together with my team-mates and our wonderful supporters, I hope we can look forward to many more fantastic moments,” the EPL’s most successful tackler last season declared.

The 21-year old has been a regular at the former EPL Champions, and has made over 60 appearances since he was snapped up in 2017 from Genk in Belgium.

His performances have also alerted top clubs and Leicester have moved to secure his long term future to ward off any interested club.

The Nathaniel Academy of Lagos youth product has scored twice for Leicester and has represented Nigeria 19 times, including playing all three Super Eagles games at the Russia 2018 World Cup.
