Ndidi named Leicester’s young player of the season

Nigerian midfielder, Wilfred Ndidi, has won Leicester City’s young player of the year award.

The 20-year-old beat Demarai Gray and Ben Chilwel to clinch the prize.

Ndidi has scored two goals in 15 English Premier League appearances in the 2016/17 season.

“It’s so great to be rated alongside Demarai Gray and Chiwell,” said Ndidi, whose goal against Stoke City was also nominated for the goal of the season award.

“I believe if they had enough chances to play probably they would have won the award.”

Ndidi joined Leicester from Genk in January and has been instrumental in the Foxes’ resurgence following the sacking of Claudio Ranieri.

The award night saw Kasper Schmeichel win player of the season and players’ player of the season award while Danny Drinkwater scooped the goal of the season award.
