The team of the week is selected in a 4-3-3 formation, with William Troost-Ekong and Efe Ambrose at the heart of defence.

Joe Aribo, Umar Sadiq and Simy also scored one each for their respective clubs.

Francis Uzoho [Apoel Nicosia]

Apoel Nicosia drew 0-0 with Anorthosis in the Cyprus top flight. This was made possible by Francis Uzoho who was impressive behind the sticks.

Shehu Abdullahi [Omonia Nicosia]

If Omonia Nicosia must win the Cyprus top tier title, Shehu Abdullahi must be fit. The utility player was impressive in the club’s win at EN Paralimniou.

William Troost-Ekong [Watford]

The Hornets won 2-1 against Stoke City and one of the talking points of the clash was William Troost-Ekong who hardly put any foot wrong.

Efe Ambrose [Livingston]

Efe Ambrose was impressive during Livingston’s 1-0 win over St. Mirren in the Scottish League Cup.

Felix Agu [Werder Bremen]

Felix Agu showed his attacking fluidity for Werder Bremen who were unstoppable against Hertha Berlin.

Wilfred Ndidi [Leicester City]

Wilfred Ndidi was integral in Leicester City’s win at Brentford. He was simply unplayable.

Joe Aribo [Rangers]

Joe Aribo was the commander at the middle of the park for Rangers who walloped Ross County 5-0. His goal was world-class.

Funsho Bamgboye [Fehérvár]

Bamgboye menaced the Ujpest backline and was rewarded with a brace.

Anthony Nwakaeme [Trabzonspor]

There’s no way Anthony Nwakaeme should be left out of this XI as his assist for Caleb Ekuban was simply flawless as Trabzonspor won 2-1 at Gençlerbirliği.

Simy [Crotone]

Seven goals so far in the Serie A this season and still counting. Simy was a huge threat to Fiorentina throughout the match. His effort was rewarded with a goal.

Umar Sadiq [Almeria]

The lanky striker grabbed the headlines once again in Spain, this time in the 2-2 draw with Cidabell for his 10th league goal of the season.
