Ndifreke Effiong, Akwa United forward, has joined Al Ahli Benghazi, a Libyan club, on a three-and-a-half-year deal.
The deal was announced on the official Twitter account of his new club on Thursday.
“There is a Chinese rocket orbiting in space; And here is a Nigerian missile that will be heard everywhere,” the tweet read.
“Together, we welcome our second deal in the Mercato, Nigeria’s striker top scorer, Ndifreke Efiong, will strengthen our team for 3 and a half years, starting from the second leg. Welcome to the Red Fort.”

Effiong scored eight goals in 18 appearances for Akwa United in the first stanza of the 2020/2021 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) season to help the team crouch in the third position in the league — just two points off the summit.
Only Sunshine Stars’ Sad’eeq Yusuf has scored as many league goals this season.
The 22-year-old joined the Promise Keeper from Abia Warriors in 2019 after beginning his career at Abia Comet FC.
