The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) says it has arrested Okafor Anthony, a 38-year-old man, at the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport in Kano, for dug trafficking.
In a statement on Sunday, Femi Babafemi, spokesperson of the agency, said the suspect was apprehended while trying to board a Qatar airline flight to Iran through Doha.
Babafemi noted that the suspect “excreted 76 pellets of ingested cocaine weighing 1.267kg after being kept in observation for three days”.
Similarly, NDLEA operatives intercepted twenty-five million capsules of tapentadol and three hundred and fifty thousand bottles of codeine-based syrup at the Tincan port complex in Lagos.

Babafemi said the seizures were made on September 17 and 20, from three containers placed on watchlist by the agency.
The NDLEA spokesperson noted that the tapentadol capsules were worth thirteen billion seven hundred and twenty-five million naira, while the codeine consignment has an estimated value of two billion four hundred and fifty million naira.
Similarly, the agency said it has arrested Aremu Shojobi, an 80-year-old man over sale of illicit drugs in Lagos.

Babafemi said the suspect was arrested with 14kg of cannabis at his home in Iyana Ipaja area of the state.
The agency noted that the suspect confessed to getting his supplies from Benin Republic and has been in the business for 25 years.
