An operative of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has been killed in Kano state.
Mohammed Abdallah, chairman of the agency, who disclosed this on Friday, said three other officers sustained injuries in the attack.
Abdallah said the unfortunate incident occurred when the patrol team ran into a roadblock at Rano local government area of the state.
Mohammad who was on an emergency visit to the Kano command regretted the loss of the officer, who he said could have survived if the agency was adequately kitted with bulletproof vests.

He said the incident has exposed how NDLEA officials risk their lives in the line of duty.
“We have lost a senior and gallant officer in active service. Even though loss of life is certain, this one is sudden and painful but that will not stop us from the fight,” he said.
“Although the men were on a routine operation, maybe if they were adequately equipped, they would have won the duel with the unknown gunmen. But again this incident will further enable us to continue our consistent call on the federal government for better funding of the agency.”
