NEDC partners foundation to provide free eye service for 2,295 people in Taraba

The North East Development Commission (NEDC) has partnered the Kolmarg Eyesight Foundation to provide free eye care services to 2,295 residents of Ibi and Wukari LGAs in Taraba state.

The free medical service, which ended on Tuesday, in Wukari, focused on tackling preventable visual impairment and other eye-related problems.

Olukorede Adenuga, executive director of the foundation, said they conducted 254 eye surgeries and distributed 904 prescription glasses.

Adenuga noted that the initiative brought relief to “thousands” of people in the LGAs.

“We are delighted to restore sight and improve the quality of life for so many individuals. This initiative proves that, with collaboration, we can make a significant difference in underserved communities.”

Esther Danjuma, a 62-year-old farmer and a beneficiary from Wukari, who reportedly regained her vision after a cataract surgery appreciated the organisers for the gesture.
