The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) says 500 vulnerable households affected by disasters have benefitted from food item donations in Kano.

NAN reports that the food items were donated by the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief) established by the leadership of Saudi Arabia.

The food items were said to have been distributed on Monday.

Speaking during the distribution of the food items, Mustapha Habib, director-general of NEMA, said the agency profiled victims of disasters in Bunkure communities and other affected LGAs in Kano.

Habib, represented by Fatima Kassim, NEMA’s planning, research and forecasting officer, said the food would “provide ease to vulnerable households, particularly, in this month of Ramadan”.

He said the agency and the relief centre had made donations of food items to 8,050 internally displaced persons (IDPs) living in Zamfara, Yobe, and Borno between 2018 and 2021.

“The 500 vulnerable households affected by disasters in Bunkure communities and other local government areas of Kano state were profiled by NEMA, in collaboration with Kano State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA),” Habib said.
