Nenadi Usman (pictured), former minister of finance, has lost her bid to return to the senate in her Kaduna south district.
She lost to Danjuma Laah by six votes, 129-123, while Joseph Gummbari got 70 votes.
The primary was conducted on Sunday in Kafanchan, Jema’a local government area.
IN PLATEAU, Senator Joshua Dariye, who recently returned to PDP, emerged winner of the party’s primary election for Plateau central.

The serving Labour Party (LP) senator scored 104 votes to beat four others in the race for the constituency.
Dariye, in his post election speech, thanked the national leadership of PDP and Jonah Jang, governor of Plateau state, for allowing him to return to the party.
IN KANO, the PDP endorsed the senate chief whip, Bello Hayatu, as sole candidate of the party to contest in Kano north.

IN AKWA IBOM, Godswill Akpabio, the state governor, was returned unopposed as the candidate of the PDP for Ikot Ekpene senatorial district.
The incumbent, Aloysius Etuk, stepped down for him.
IN KWARA, Yinka Aluko, former special adviser on security to ex-Governor Bukola Saraki, secured a ticket to contest the Kwara Central senatorial election on the platform of PDP.
Aluko polled 83 votes to beat AbdulRahman AbdulRasaq, who had 81 votes.

Other contestants at the election were Bilikis Gambari who had five votes and Lasisi Jimoh who polled three votes.
IN LAGOS, Olumide Braithwaite, son of eminent Nigerian and pro-democracy activist, Tunji Braithwaite, lost the PDP Lagos central primary election to Ade Dosunmu.
Dosunmu, a 2011 governorship candidate of the PDP in Lagos, withdrew from the 2015 governorship race of the party to go seek a senatorial ticket.
