The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) has approved the reappointment of a twelve-member dispute resolution panel for the Nigerian Electricity Supply Industry (NESI).
NESI is a coalition of stakeholders in the electricity supply chain consisting of the distribution companies and generating companies.
In a statement on Monday, the commission said the reappointment is in line with market rules which provide for a second term.
Members of the reconstituted panel are Bolanle Onagoruwa, Olufunmilayo Roberts, Adeyemi Akinsanya, Augustine Mamedu, Adeyemi Oyedele, Hussaini Mohammed and Okechukwu Chiazor.

Others are Ajagbe Oyetunde, Ezekiel Osarieme, Batholomew Onyejekwe, Nnena Ejekam and Sadiku Folorunsho.

“The appointment of the members is in line with section 42.1.3 of the market rules, which empowers @NERCNG to constitute the panel and section 42.3.8(c) of the same rules on the reappointment of members for a second term,” the commission said.
“Functions of the panel, as spelt out in section 42.3.7 of the rules, include the arbitration & settlement of disputes between market participants in NESI. The system operator (SO), the market operator (MO), and others engaged in the trading of electricity are the participants.
“While reconstituting the dispute resolution panel @NERCNG advised market participants to take advantage of the channel of alternative dispute resolution for the resolution of disputes in the industry in line with the provisions of the market rules.”

The committee functions to resolve any dispute among market players in the electricity sector.
