The Nigerian Economic Summit Group (NESG) and News Central Television are in talks for a strategic partnership to support economic growth in Nigeria.

According to a joint statement on Saturday, the proposed partnership recognises the power of collaboration in driving economic growth.

NESG and News Central announced their plan to collaborate during a recent meeting between the executive management teams of both organisations, signalling a shared commitment to fostering positive change in the country.

“Rising from the meeting, both organizations expressed their understanding of the crucial role the media plays in shaping public opinion and influencing policy decisions, believing that by working together, they can amplify their impact and accelerate Nigeria’s economic progress,” the organisations said.

In his remarks, Kayode Akintemi, managing director of News Central, acknowledged NESG’s crucial role in shaping economic policies and discourse.

Akintemi stressed the importance of partnerships in creating a progressive future for Nigeria’s economy.

Udeme Ufot, board member and chairman of the media and publicity committee for the National Economic Summit 30 (NES #30), praised News Central for its achievements in a short period.

Ufot lauded the station’s creativity, pragmatism, freshness and factual content being consistently dished out to the public.

‘NESG COMMITTED TO ESTABLISHING LONG-LASTING RELATIONSHIP WITH NEWS CENTRAL’

While praising the potential partnership deal, Ufot reiterated NESG’s commitment to establishing a long-lasting relationship with News Central to keep economic issues and empirical solutions at the forefront of national discourse.

Tayo Aduloju, chief executive officer (CEO) of NESG, provided an insightful overview of NESG’s journey, recounting the economic challenges Nigeria has faced, including recessions and periods of instability.

Aduloju reaffirmed the organisation’s dedication to evidence-based policy advocacy, which he believes is crucial to steering Nigeria towards economic stability and growth.

Rosemary Egabor-Afolahan, director of the commercial and communications department at News Central, expressed the station’s anticipation for a continued partnership with NESG for the upcoming summit tagged NES #30, with the hope that the collaboration will foster a strong partnership along economic and broadcast lines.

The theme for this year’s NESG summit, “Collaborative Action for Growth, Competitiveness, and Stability,” will address critical challenges facing Nigeria’s economy, according to the statement.

The summit will cover five sub-themes aimed at inclusive development and promoting stakeholder collaboration.

“As Nigeria embarks on this new chapter, the proposed partnership between NESG and News Central is one believed to offer a beacon of hope,” the organisations said.

“Both parties are optimistic about working together to ignite a spark that will propel the nation towards a brighter future, one characterised by economic prosperity, social justice, and sustainable development.

“Following the meeting, the NESG leadership toured News Central’s facilities, including the newsroom and production studio.”

The partnership is expected to enhance economic discourse, empower citizens with valuable knowledge, and create pathways for positive economic reforms in Nigeria and across Africa.
