‘Shame on you’ — Bruce receives knocks on Twitter for saying Nigeria needs Atiku

Nigerians on Twitter have criticised Ben Bruce, senator representing Bayelsa east constituency, for saying Atiku Abubakar, former vice president, is the type of leader the country needs.

In his tweet, Bruce berated the federal government for not reacting to a report that Nigerians were falling victim to modern slavery in Libya.

CNN had reported that migrants, including Nigerians, were auctioned and sold for $400.

“The same day @CNN revealed that Black African migrants were being sold off as slaves, @atiku spoke up, offered help and asked the world for help,” Bruce wrote on Twitter.

“602k Nigerians follow that route every year, yet our government has been slow to speak and act. Atiku is the type of leader Nigeria needs!”.

While some supported Bruce’s opinion, many did not hide their reservations.

“No boss he’s not, he did the right thing by speaking up but he’s not the leader we need,” a Twitter user (@Chuboyking) wrote.

“They have had their chances, it’s time for someone fresh and new, someone who hasn’t been inflected with the on going corruption in our government, a young vibrant commoner.”

  1. I’m speechless, I don’t think you have any sympathy for these people? Common sense is so rare and it should be classified as super power
