Newspaper Headlines: 17 feared dead in attacks on Benue communities

Reports on the rising cost of living in Nigeria, and the return of President Bola Tinubu from France, dominate the cover pages of Nigerian newspapers.

The Punch reports that the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) said Nigerians spent $98 billion on foreign education, healthcare and personal travels in 10 years. The newspaper says the federal government has vowed to end insecurity as the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) unveiled two attack helicopters.
The Nation says the federal government said its economic policies are yielding fruits. The newspaper reports that the All Progressives Congress (APC), and the opposition parties have clashed over the protests against the rising cost of living in the country.
Daily Trust reports that the house of representatives has called on the federal government to urgently take steps to tackle the rising cost of living. The newspaper says at least 17 people have been reportedly killed in an attack on three communities in Entekpa Ward of Otukpo LGA of Benue state.
The Guardian reports that stakeholders in the poultry business are worried that the sector might collapse in a matter of months if urgent steps are not taken. The newspaper says the CBN has blamed the rising number of Nigerians schooling abroad, and the rate of medical tourism, for the depreciation of the naira.
THISDAY reports that the federal government has convened an emergency meeting to address the rising prices of food items. The newspaper says the federal government has explained that the exit of pharmaceuticals from Nigeria was due to the non-domestication of their products in the country.
