Newspaper Headlines: 35 profs, lecturers indicted for alleged sexual misconduct since 2018

Reports on the alleged impeachment move against Godswill Akpabio, senate president, dominated the cover pages of Nigerian newspapers. 

The Punch reports that no fewer than 281 Nigerian doctors are currently practising in other African countries. The newspaper says six state governors and seven ministers will be part of President Bola Tinubu’s 17-member delegation to this year’s United Nations General Assembly in New York.
THISDAY reports that Christopher Musa, the chief of defence staff, said the armed forces remain in support of sustained democratic rule in Nigeria. The newspaper says Akpabio has dismissed an alleged plot to unseat him.
The Guardian reports that the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo state and Yoruba Council Worldwide have criticised former President Olusegun Obasanjo over his alleged verbal assault on some traditional rulers. The newspaper says Wole Soyinka, the Nobel laureate, has insisted that Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP) did not win the February 25 presidential election.
Daily Independent reports that there is apprehension among leading opposi­tion parties that the gains they made in the last general election are being reversed by tribunals across the country. The newspaper says stakeholders have urged Tinubu to reduce foreign trips and tackle the country’s economic challenges.
Vanguard reports there is controversy in the senate over moves by some senators to impeach the senate president. The newspaper says flooding has caused havoc in Lagos, Delta, Anambra and other states in the country.
