Newspaper Headlines: 45 killed in Zamfara, and FG’s town-hall meeting adopts state police

Attacks on citizens, police and army formations by gunmen dominated the headlines of Nigerian newspapers. The senate’s approval of President Muhammadu Buhari’s fresh loan request also made the headlines.

Daily Independent says the town-hall meeting organised by the federal government recommended state police as one of the solutions to the country’s insecurity. The federal government cautioned the elite against promoting disintegration, the newspaper reports.

The Punch’s headline focuses on the explanation of the UK government for granting asylum to members of the Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) and the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).
