Newspaper Headlines: ACF demands removal of GOC over Kaduna bombing

Reports on the federal government’s promise to punish those found culpable of the bombing in Tundun Biri community of Kaduna, dominate the cover pages of Nigerian newspapers.

The Punch reports that the Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) has demanded the removal of V.U. Okoro, the general officer commanding one division of the Nigerian Army, Kaduna, over the accidental bombing of Tundun Biri community in Igabi LGA of Kaduna state. The newspaper says the International Air Transport Association has warned the Central Bank of Nigeria that some foreign airlines may be forced to quit the Nigerian market if nothing is done about the $790m ticket revenue currently trapped in the country.
Daily Trust says Ahmad Gumi, prominent Islamic cleric, said the bombing in Tundun Biri community was intentional. The newspaper says there was excitement yesterday as Dangote refinery received the first shipment of crude oil ahead of commencement of operations.

THISDAY reports that President Bola Tinubu said the promise of his administration to resolve foreign exchange (FX) backlogs through injection of funds into the market would be fulfilled. The newspaper says seven opposition political parties have commenced talks for a possible coalition or merger ahead of subsequent elections in the country.
