Newspaper Headlines: Airfares soar as exchange rate hits N702/dollar

Reports on the removal of security chiefs and appointment of new ones by President Bola Tinubu, dominate the front pages of the dailies today.

The Punch reports that President Bola Tinubu has sacked all service chiefs and appointed successors. The federal government said it has set up a steering committee to consider the various demands presented by organised labour over the removal of petrol subsidy, the newspaper says.
The Nation reports that the federal government and organised labour have reached an agreement to sort out the modalities for palliatives to cushion the effect of petrol subsidy removal. The newspaper says Tinubu will depart the country on Thursday for a summit in Paris, France.
Vanguard reports that the naira on Monday depreciated by 16 percent to N770.38 to a dollar in the investors and exporters (I&E) window following a surge in the demand for dollars. The newspaper says Mele Kyari, group chief executive officer (GCEO) of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited, has pledged the commitment of the company to the federal government’s plan for net zero carbon emission in the country by year 2060.
Daily Trust reports that Tinubu has dissolved governing boards of all federal government parastatals, agencies, institutions, and government-owned companies. The newspaper says no fewer than 22 persons were killed while many others were injured in fresh attacks in the villages of Barikin Ladi and Mangu town of Mangu LGA of Plateau state.
Daily Independent says the National Industrial Court in Abuja said its order restraining labour unions from embarking on strike remains valid. The newspaper reports that the Ogun governorship election petition tribunal has struck out a petition filed by Oladipupo Adebutu, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), over alleged vote buying during the March 18 election.
