Newspaper Headlines: Amid pushback, APC pledges to review zoning of n’assembly leadership

Reports on the $800 million loan request and the trip of Bola Tinubu, president-elect, to Europe dominated the cover pages of Nigerian newspapers.

Daily Trust reports that reactions have trailed the $800 million loan request made by President Muhammadu Buhari to the senate. The newspaper says the court has ruled that the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) lacks the power to impose fines on broadcast stations.
The Punch reports that aspirants for the senate presidency have rejected the nomination of Godswill Akpabio, former governor of Akwa Ibom. The newspaper says the budget office of the federation said Nigeria now has a “limited borrowing space” due to its poor debt-to-revenue ratio.
The Nation reports that the national working committee (NWC) of the APC has pledged to revisit the zoning of the leadership positions of the 10th national assembly. The newspaper says Tinubu has travelled to Europe for an investment drive.
Daily Independent says the federal government has explained why the administration continues to award contracts despite nearing its exit. The newspaper reports that the senate has indicted the office of accountant-general of the federation, National Agency for Food and Drugs Administration and Control (NAFDAC), minis­tries of finance, justice and 43 other ministries, departments and agencies over alleged financial in­fractions.
THISDAY reports that Rotimi Akeredolu, governor of Ondo, has faulted the zoning of the leadership positions of the 10th national assembly by the APC. Aliko Dangote, president of the Dangote group, said the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC) has what it takes to become the African version of Saudi Arabia’s Aramco in the near future, the newspaper says.
