Newspaper Headlines: Anti-kidnapping protest holds in Abuja | Bandits abduct 17 in Niger state

Reports on a massive explosion in Ibadan, the Oyo state capital, permeate the front pages today. 

The Punch reports that members of the Middle-Belt Youth Forum will on Wednesday in Abuja protest the rising cases of kidnapping in the region and the insecurity that has ravaged parts of the country. The newspaper says many people are feared dead in Ibadan, Oyo state capital, after a massive explosion in the city.
Daily Trust reports that the office of the national security adviser (NSA) is planning to spend N32 billion on new buildings despite a multi-billion naira complex. The newspaper says bandits have abducted 17 people in Niger state.
The Guardian reports that fresh crisis is brewing over Shell’s planned exit from the onshore segment of Nigeria’s oil and gas industry as Nigerian firms scout for $4.5 billion to buy out the assets of the company. The newspaper says Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) said the federal government’s directive on border closure is still in force.
THISDAY reports that Shell has agreed to sell its Nigerian onshore assets to Renaissance, a consortium of four Nigerian firms and one foreign company, for a consideration of $2.8 billion. The federal government said reduction or budgetary expenditure is not a feasible option for Nigeria at the moment.
